Lexxington enjoyed the commotion of the human market place, so many sights, smells, people everywhere, and animals making noises, children running and playing. It was something both familiar and new to her, for her sire’s lands still had human cities; DuVal, her own land was empty. Marie walked to her side, and she cast a glance at the young human girl. She could see why Luvell found her so attractive, her dark hair was like ink, and her eyes were quite beautiful, more blue than Abigail’s. Lexx could see why Abi trusted her so. “You had mentioned it was the finest silver shop in Haven?”

“Yes, Lexxington . . . King Phillip had the crowns made here, as well as the ring that he gave to Abigail’s mother.” Marie enjoyed the way that people moved out of their way when they spotted the Vampyre.

When a large burly human male bumped into Marie on accident while trying to back his cart out of a stall, Lexxington growled so loud, the man turned a pale white color and left both his cart and his money in order to get away from her. Pleased with herself, the Vampyre opened the door to the silversmith’s shop for Marie. “Lady’s first . . .”

“That was not nice, Lexx,” Marie laughed. “Abigail would have scolded you.”

The Vampyre shrugged. “If he had bumped into Abigail, it would have not been just a growl,” she smiled wickedly.

Waiting for the shopkeeper, Marie smiled. “It was an accident, Lexx. You can’t blame someone for accidents. He was trying to move his cart.”

“But I was angered simply on the notion he did not look before he leapt . . . so to speak. A man does not bump into a lady and not apologize,” Lexxington answered smoothly as the shopkeeper came into the large room.

“Ah! Marie!” the older gentlemen exclaimed pulling the maid into a hug. “Has Abigail sent you for something?”

Shaking her head, Marie hugged the older man like a friend. “No, Anton, but this is Abigail’s betrothed, Lady Frost, and she wishes to get something special for her. I told her that your work is known throughout the kingdom, and she must come see you.”

The shopkeeper’s eyes went unnaturally wide once he had a look and realized that Lady Frost was a Vampyre, and not a human. Bowing low to his knees the man began to beg for forgiveness like he caused some crime against her. “Lady Frost, I beg the lady’s forgiveness, if I had known . . .” he rambled on about how he would have had the jewelry laid out and so on.

The Vampyre smiled and lifted him to his feet as if he weighed nothing. “Worry not Anton, for I am in no mood to exact revenge upon humans who do not deserve it . . . I am simply here to find something for mine betrothed.”

Marie laid her hand on the man’s back. “May we see your rings? I’m sure that you will have something that Abigail will love.
